DIY can be so rewarding when building your own dream deck. This “have a crack” attitude is part of the Kiwi way. BUT, be aware that your deck must be built according to the requirements of the building code NZS. 3604/2011. Sometimes trying to do it “on the cheap” can be very costly! It is vital to adhere to the building code which specify the legal requirements in terms of piles, footings, timber spans/grades, fastenings etc
